Here is a random checklist of things to consider:
I suggest having 10 copies of each book, but do not display them all on the table to avoid soiling.
Do bring a tablecloth if you have one – it just looks better.
The table and chairs are provided.
You can display pop-up banners – but not beyond the footprint of the table, back, and seating area.
Bring bookmarks and business cards if you have them.
Print off any nice reviews and display – perhaps some festive ornaments?
Freebies like sweets, cakes or chocolate or healthier snacks go down well.
Do you accept card payments? It is not a deal breaker if you cannot, but make sure you have plenty of change.
Could you be prepared to do a discounted offer?
Have a short elevator pitch for your book written down and review as you go along – and think of open questions to open with to break the ice like: what do you normally read? What are you reading now?
Don’t forget your chargers.
Arrive early to avoid any parking and setup issues before the doors open – this will help you relax.
Consult with other authors to discover what approaches work for them.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
